However, this may be my favorite.
This is from my youngest's best friend. He is trans and often came to stay with us during high-school because his family struggled with who he was as a person.
My household had two basic rules. Be nice and don't create work for me.
My house was safe for trans kids, NOT due to any political or ideological reasons but because they are human beings and I'm a human being. Pretty simple really.
My home is built to be safe for a Christian, a Muslim, a Wiccan, an Atheist, or anyone who is being mistreated for who they are as a person.
What did it require of me... just being a human... not even a great human... just be a reasonably nice person. I'd consider it bottom of the barrel, basics of humanity.
I'll be writing about this more because I see some of the weakest people pushing the most vile, hateful, and moralistically driven bullshit when they could just try to insert a modicum of human decency into the equation. Pretty easy to do but, apparently, not for those who have emotionally and intellectually compromised their humanity for grotesque religious dogma that is built on unfounded ancient tribal barbarism.
And yes, our home is even safe for you assholes. As long as you adhere to the basic rules.
Be nice and don't create work for us.
You can even be a bigot... but you have to be a bigot quietly - inside your stupid little head.
The coffee will always be fresh and brewed early.
Here is an image of Rain’s (my dog’s) card to me.
Due to the timeliness of this message, I circumvented another article I’ve written about my conversion to Christianity and my emancipation from the same. It’s coming soon.
Take care and be decent to others.

You submitted a rather lovely, kind essay and that makes me utterly distraught.
As I think you know, my "raison d etra" (French for reason for being, the thing that really turns you on) is grinding my teeth into something and tearing it apart (You have sweet little puppies who write Fathers' day cards; this cannabalistic canine likes to use his intellect to dismember other peoples' ideas)
However, I can't find any flaws in your post.
Incidentally, for me the most important feature of any holiday was the FUCKING FOOD. Did you get any great food for Father's day. I hope Deb prepared a feast for you.
Thanks for sharing your nice messages. I like your philosophy. Wish more people followed the same :-)
Be well,
J
